India announced the squad for the Asia Cup 2022 a few days back. There are some inclusions and exclusions in the team which are still debatable among the fans and the cricket experts as well. The snubbing of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer from the squad is just one of those debates which are currently going on.
Although, Iyer is there in the stand-by players the exclusion of Ishan Kishan is something that went on to catch the attention of the cricket fans. Fans reacted and cleared their stand over Twitter on this exclusion.
Earlier, Ishan Kishan himself posted a message through his Instagram handle about the feeling he is going through after this setback.
Ishan Kishan got only two opportunities during the last two T20I series
“Ki Ab Aisa Banna Nahi, Bhale Ghayal Ho Jaana, Tujhe fool Samjhe Koi Toh, Tu Fire Ho Jaana, Bella Peeche Rehna, Magar Sab Sambhal,” read the message posted by the 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batter.
Notably, the southpaw was a part of the Indian squad during the T20I bilateral clashes against England and West Indies. He could get a chance to feature only in one match-each in both the series against West Indies and England. Subsequently, the selectors dropped him when it was to select the 15-member squad for the multi-team continental tournament.
In the two chances he got in the last couple of matches, Ishan could score only eight and 11 respectively. Eventually, his form didn’t persuade the selectors to pick him for the next assignment of the Indian team.
Apart from this exclusion, there were also some major inclusions that made it to the headlines, two of which are the senior batters, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. They both made a comeback to the team after a couple of months.
Indian Squad For Asia Cup, 2022: Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant(Wk), Deepak Hooda, Dinesh Karthik (Wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the omission of Ishan Kishan:
Ishan Kishan T20 records looks great and he is a great Hitter as well. He lacks role clarity perhaps in T20I's. He will become permanent member after T20 WC. #CricketTwitter https://t.co/UV3LPuA3rf
