On 24 May 2023, the eliminator clash of the ongoing IPL took place at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the must-win clash. However, MI came to this clash without a single win over them in three previous IPL meetings.

So, MI fans were hoping for a better performance this time around. Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. They posted 182 runs on the board for eight wickets in 20 overs. For LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq was the star of the show as he took four wickets for 38 runs in four overs.

Naveen-ul-Haq’s spell left MI batters stunned in Chennai  

The LSG pacer has been in the headlines since the LSG vs RCB clash in Lucknow as he got involved in an ugly verbal spat with Virat Kohli. Even, after that, he continued to tease Kohli and his fans by posting some cryptic messages on social media accounts. So, such fans were hoping for a better show from the MI batters against him. But, he came up with a top performance by picking up four wickets. First, he dismissed Rohit Sharma for 11 runs off 10  balls. Then, he picked up wickets of Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, and Tilak Varma respectively.

However, MI batters managed to cross the 180-run mark and set a target of 183 runs for LSG. After the innings, Naveen-ul-Haq said: "The ball is coming onto the bat. And it's a better wicket than the one for Chennai-GT game." Speaking of the match, it seemed that the pitch got slowed down after the first 10 overs. During the middle overs, spinners and medium pacers got some assistance while in the last few overs, Dew helped batters to play some shots. In reply, LSG had a difficult start to chase as they scored 54 runs for two wickets in the first six overs.
