Ravichandran Ashwin and his wife Prithi furious over sexual harassment stories from Chennai schools

The sexual harassment stories from schools around Chennai have wretched havoc in India. A few days back a heart wrenching incident of sexual harassment came to light after a teacher from Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) was detained on allegations of sexual abuse and inappropriate behaviour. The entire episode angered India's veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and his wife Prithi and they took to their respective social media handles to speak out their views.

Recently, Ravi Ashwin posted a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle where he said that the sexual harassment cases have shaken him to the core as he is the father of two young girls. Notably, the school from which the teacher was arrested was the same institution from where Ashwin took his education.

"Been a couple of disturbing nights, not only as an old student of PSBB but also as a father of 2 young girls. Rajagopalan is one name that's come out today, but to stop such incidents all around us in the future, we need to act and need a complete overhaul of the system," the 34-year-old tweeted.

"So heartbreaking to hear about the stories coming out from schools in and around Chennai, especially from PSBB concerning Rajagopal, who have never known him in all those years of studying there but are deeply disturbed about the news. "We need to create an ecosystem that encourages children to report the smallest of incidences that make them feel unsafe," he added.

Now, Ashwin's wife Prithi took to her official Instagram handle to express her disappointment. Prithi asserted that she was way too triggered to put her thoughts down. In her Instagram post, she condemned the episode of the notable school in Chennai while emphasizing that the children should be provided with a safe environment where they can freely speak about their views. Prithi believes that childhood trauma can cause irreplaceable damage and their childhood needs to be preserved.
