On 14 May 2023, Rajasthan Royals (RR) took on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL. In the reverse fixture, RCB defeated RR in Bengaluru. So, RCB were looking to double over RR by winning this match. While RR were looking to avoid the loss this time around.

However, it was a must-win game for both teams to be alive in the race for the playoffs. Speaking of the match, RCB won the toss and opted to bat first. While batting first, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis came out to bat. But, Kohli scored 18 runs off 19 balls, including only one four.     

RCB defeated RR by 112 runs in IPL 2023

Then, du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell put up a partnership of 69 runs for the second wicket. Faf du Plessis scored 55 runs off 44 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Then, Maxwell played a counter-attacking knock despite other batters were struggling to score freely. Maxwell scored 54 runs off 33 balls, including five fours and three sixes. In the end, Anuj Rawat scored 29* runs off 11 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Thus, RCB scored 171 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. For RR, KM Asif and Adam Zampa took two wickets each while Sandeep Sharma took one wicket.

But, in reply, RCB bowlers were on fire as RR lost their top five wickets for 28 runs in six overs. However, they failed to stable the innings in the middle overs also as RR got bundled out for just 59 runs in 10.3 overs. Thus, they registered the third-lowest total in the history of IPL. For RCB, Wayne Parnell took three wickets while both Michael Bracewell and Karn Sharma took two wickets each. Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell took one wicket each. However, Parnell won the Player of the Match award for his exceptional bowling performance. RCB have now defeated RR twice in this year's IPL.
