India sealed a 1-0 series victory against West Indies after Day 5 got abandoned due to rain in Port of Spain, on Monday. It was anticipated that rain will play a spoilsport on the final Day. But it was less predicted that the final day of the Test match will be fully washed out without a ball being bowled. The first session was rained out, but it stopped raining for a while, so the umpires scheduled the post-Lunch session.

But then it rained again, and the second session was postponed. The rain ceased once more, and the covers were removed, with the match poised to continue. The weather gods had other intentions, and the coverings were re-applied owing to dark skies and heavy rain. The second Test match finished in a tie, although India won the series thanks to their first victory in the opening game.

Mohammed Siraj wins his maiden man of the match

Siraj was named Man-of-the-Match for the first time in the typical five-day game after taking 5 for 60 in the West Indies first innings of the second Test. His performance was all the more impressive given that he was leading the pace attack in the absence of experienced players such as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Despite the fact that this was only Siraj's 21st red-ball game for India, he rose to the occasion and established his value as a top-class bowler.

The pacer stated, "This is my first Man of the Match award in Tests, so it's a memory. There was no help for fast bowlers on this wicket. I had simple plans and executed them. When there's no help for fast bowlers and yet you get wickets, it gives you confidence. Rohit bhai just asked me to keep doing what I have been doing."

On Day 4, the West Indies were 76 for 2 at Stumps, needing 289 runs to overcome India. The visitors, on the other hand, needed 8 wickets to win. India declared their second innings at 181 for 2, giving the hosts a 365-run goal. The Rohit Sharma-led team won the opening game by an innings and 141 runs to take the series 1-0.
