The stage was set at Arun Jaitley Stadium on 13 May 2023 when Delhi Capitals (DC) locked horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing IPL. Before this clash, PBKS were in the eighth position with 10 points in 11 games. While DC were in the last position with only eight points in 11 games.

PBKS came to this clash after a defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). While DC came to this clash after a defeat against CSK. So, both teams were looking for a win. Speaking of the match, DC won the toss and asked PBKS to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh came out to bat.

PBKS registered their sixth win of the season 

But, Dhawan failed cheaply as he scored seven runs off five balls. Prabhsimran Singh played some delightful shots and smashed his maiden IPL ton. He scored 103 runs off 65 balls, including 10 fours and six sixes. Apart from him, the only significant contribution came from Sam Curran as he scored 20 runs off 24 balls, including one four. In the end, PBKS scored 167 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. For DC, Ishant Sharma grabbed two scalps for 27 runs in three overs. Along with him, Axar Patel, Praveen Dubey, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mukesh Kumar grabbed one wicket each.

In reply, skipper David Warner and Phil Salt came out to bat for DC. Both of them gave a blistering start as DC scored 65 runs in the first six overs without losing any wickets. Then, Salt got out on 21 runs off 17 balls. But, after that, DC suffered a batting collapse and they got reduced to 86 runs for six wickets in 10.1 overs. Both Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar spun their web and DC batters were absolutely clueless. Brar finished his spell with four wickets for 30 runs in four overs. While Chahar took two wickets for 16 runs in four overs. Finally, DC scored 136 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs and PBKS won the game by 31 runs.
