Cricket’s governing body has announced the Future Tour Program (FTP) for the upcoming five years. 12 full cricketing members of the council will total 777 international matches in these years. It will include 173 Tests, 281 One-Day Internationals, and 323 T20 internationals.

The FTP is for the 2023-2027 cycle. There will be an increase of 83 matches in the next FTP in comparison to the current FTP. Pakistan will host the international Champions Trophy in 2025. It will be the first major international event Pakistan will be hosting since 1996.

Notably, Pakistan had to wait for a 13-year-long period to host a multi-nation tournament. It was because of the security concerns following the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team 13 years back in 2009.

Although, Pakistani cricket fans are happy to see that an international event is scheduled in their country for the first time in almost 30 years which is a good sign for cricket as well.

But there is a bit of twist in the story that Pakistan’s premier T20 cricket league, - the Pakistan Super League is set to clash with one of the prestigious leagues in the world i.e., the Indian T20 League. It all happened due to the FTP announced by cricket's governing body.

It is quite a bit expected that both leagues might start in the same period during 2025 and this is already embodying a fear in the Pakistani fans that they might miss the top cricketing talents in the PSL. On the other hand, Indian fans didn’t fail on the opportunity to roast their Pakistani counterparts after this news.

There is another reason also for this clash of these two big franchise T20 Leagues and that is the extended window for the Indian T20 League awarded by the apex cricket council recently.

Recently, the Indian T20 League has become World’s second biggest league in terms of value per match. Now it is only behind USA’s National Football League (NFL).
