Sandeep Sharma has received praise from Aakash Chopra for delivering three outstanding final deliveries that prevented the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from defeating the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match.

On Wednesday, April 12, the Royals were allowed to bat first in Chennai, and they set a 176-run goal for MS Dhoni and company. They later held the host team to 172/6 to win by a slim margin of three runs and take the lead in the IPL 2023 points standings.

'Thrillers are a daily affair ' – Aakash Chopra

In a video posted to his YouTube page, Chopra reflected on CSK's pursuit and praised Sandeep Sharma for leading the Rajasthan Royals to a victory that at one point appeared unlikely, saying, "40 runs were required off the last two overs. MS Dhoni started hitting first, then Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja) joins in, and then Dhoni hits. It was amazing - Jason Holder's one over gave 19 runs in which Jaddu was the aggressor."

The former Indian opener added, "When Sandeep Sharma came to bowl the last over, he first bowled two wides, then a good yorker, but after that, two back-to-back sixes. It seemed the match had turned towards Chennai, but after that, he bowled three perfect balls, three exact yorkers, and Sandeep Sharma won them the game."

Aakash Chopra also took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to express his view on the game. "Kya game tha bhai…thrillers are a daily affair since Rinku hit those sixes. 2 overs, 40 runs required. And RR win by just 3 runs. Sandeep got hit for 2 sixes…bowled 2 wides…and yet managed to bowl immaculate yorkers to close the game. Unreal stuff," Chopra wrote.

MS Dhoni hit back-to-back sixes off the second and third legal deliveries to reduce the CSK team's run need from 21 runs to seven runs from three balls in the last over. Sanju Samson and company won by a hair-raising three runs after Sandeep Sharma permitted just singles off the final three balls.
