Police complaint registered against Sandeep Lamichhane for allegedly raping a minor

Sandeep Lamichhane has a rape complaint filed against him by a 17-year-old minor for allegedly raping her in Kathmandu on August 17.

Sandeep Lamichhane is Nepal’s star spinner and has been a sensation for them. The youngster outclassed everyone from his country with his performances and aspirants looked to him as an inspiration. Coming from an associate nation, he went to play in many leagues, including the Indian T20 League. However, at present, he’ll have an issue to face as a priority.

Nepal recently toured Kenya and won the series 3-2 led by the youngster. Lamichhane has now travelled to the West Indies to participate in the Caribbean Premier League.

In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old minor filed a rape case against the youngster for raping her in a hotel. District Police range Kathmandu confirmed the incident and stated that the victim underwent the required medical tests. The victim said in the complaint that she got to know the skipper through her friend.

The complaint further read quoting the girl as saying that she was raped by the spinner on August 21 in a hotel in Kathmandu. The girl further added that she travelled to Nagarkot with Lamichhane on August 17.

Police clarifies the incident

The cops from Kathmandu Range cleared the air off the incident. AIG Rabindra Singh Dhanuk from Kathmandu Valley Police Office confirmed the news to Setopati. Setopati is Nepal's digital newspaper and the AIG assured of further clarification at the earliest.

"A rape complaint has been filed against Sandeep Lamichhane. It’s a minor’s complaint, I will give further details regarding this tomorrow. The victim’s health check-up has also been performed this evening," he said.

While the player is in the Caribbean, it remains to see if he would travel back. Sandeep Lamichhane is the skipper of the Nepal cricket team and the board is yet to comment on the incident. The youngster was seen as a star in the country and this might come as a black mark. The 22-year-old is yet to comment on the incident and further details are awaited.
