The stage was set at Chepauk, Chennai on 10 May 2023 as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took on Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing IPL. Before this clash, CSK were in the second position with 13 points in 11 games. While DC were in the last position with eight points in 10 games. But, both teams were coming off after registering victories in their last respective games.

CSK defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) while DC defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). So, an enthralling battle was waiting for fans and both the teams at Chepauk. Speaking of the match, MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first. For them, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway came out as openers.

But, Conway failed to give a solid start to CSK as he got out on 10 runs off 13 balls, including one four. Another opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad tried to settle the innings. But, he scored 24 runs off 18 balls, including four fours. Then, Ajinkya Rahane scored 21 runs off 20 balls, including two fours. Shivam Dube scored a quickfire 25 runs off 12 balls, including three sixes. Apart from them, Ambati Rayudu scored 23 runs off 17 balls, including one four and one six each. Ravindra Jadeja scored 21 runs off 16 balls, including one four and one six while MS Dhoni smashed 20 runs off nine balls, including one four and two sixes.

Thus, they scored 167 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. For DC, Axar Patel took two wickets and Mitchell Marsh grabbed three wickets. Then, for the chase, skipper David Warner failed cheaply for a two-ball duck. After that, Mitchell Marsh scored five runs while Phil Salt scored just 17 runs. Then, Manish Pandey scored 27 runs off 29 balls. After that, Rilee Rossouw scored 35 runs off 37 balls and Axar Patel scored 21 runs off 12 balls. But, finally, DC managed to score 140 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Thus, CSK defeated DC by 27 runs. For CSK, Matheesha Pathirana took three wickets.
