Shubman Gill put in a masterclass performance with the bat as he became the youngest batsman ever to score a double-century in ODIs. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals at one end but Shubman Gill ensured runs kept coming at a great pace.

He went to play a sensational knock of 208 runs in just 148 balls at a strike rate of 139.60. Besides that, another big talking point during that innings was Hardik Pandya’s controversial dismissal.

After India had lost four wickets for 175 runs, Pandya and Gill led a great recovery and looked on course to take India to a big total. However, on the last ball of the 40th over, the third umpire gave a decision that left the entire cricketing fraternity in shock.

Daryl Mitchell bowled one angling into the right-hander and there wasn’t much room to play the cut. Besides, the extra bounce on that delivery meant he missed it completely. The ball reached the hands of the keeper but, before that, the bails came off, following which New Zealand appealed for a bowled dismissal.

The replays suggested that it was the gloves that disturbed the bails. However, the umpire gave it out, leaving everyone scratching their heads. The fans expressed their disappointment on Twitter over the decision. Here’s a look at some of the reactions:
