With this amazing double century, Gill has also become the youngest batter ever to score an ODI double century. He achieved this feat only at the age of 23 years and 132 days. Apart from that, it was the second consecutive triple-figure knock by Shubman in ODI cricket. He smashed the last century in the third and last of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

The Indian cricket fans also went ecstatic and awestruck following this historic achievement of a young Punjabi lad. They took to Twitter and lavished praises on him, the fans went on to the extent of saying that Gill is the perfect fit to take over the legacy of former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar.

Here’s how Twitter saluted Shubman Gill for his historic double Ton:

Speaking of the match so far, India has posted a total of 349 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Apart from Gill’s double century, skipper Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav played the knocks of 34 and 31 runs respectively. Later on, Hardik Pandya also contributed with a quick but crucial knock of 28 runs with three boundaries.

Daryl Mitchell and Henry Shipley scalped two wickets each for the visitors. Whereas the trio of Blair Tickner, Lockie Ferguson, and Mitchell Santner also claimed a wicket each.

Now, Tom Latham’s men require 350 runs in 50 overs to win the match against the Indian bowling attack comprising the pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur.
