Smriti Mandhana is gearing up for the opening season of the Women’s T20 League. She will play for the Bangalore franchise as the skipper. So, fans were in an ecstatic mood when the franchise bought her for a whopping amount of INR 3.4 Crores. Thus, she became the highest-paid player for the first season of this tournament.

The Bangalore franchise will be in action on 5 March 2023 against the Delhi franchise at the Brabourne stadium. Now, in a recent interview on Jio Cinema, a reporter asked her in which stadium she wants to see a stand after her name. In reply to that, Mandhana took the name of Chinnaswamy Stadium.

However, fans found the answer quite funny as she is yet to play for the franchise. So, they came up and trolled her on the social media platform. After being named as the Bangalore skipper, Smriti Mandhana said: “I would like to thank Bangalore management for giving me this amazing opportunity. I’m looking forward to receiving all the love and support from you fans, who I’m told are the best in the world. And I promise you to give my 100% to lead Bangalore to success in the Women’s T20 League.”

Speaking about her career, Mandhana has played 116 T20Is so far where she has scored 2802 runs, at an average of 27.74. She has also smashed 22 fifties so far for team India. Smriti Mandhana scored 151 runs in four innings in the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup for the Women in Blue. She also managed to hit two fifties at an average of 37.75. Du Plessis also congratulated her for being the captain of the franchise. He said: Du Plessis further added: “I’m very confident that our women’s captain has all the attributes to lead Bangalore. All the very best, Smriti Mandhana. See you at the games.”
