However, in an exclusive chat with Cricbuzz and Wisden, Shaw opened up on his dream of representing Team India for atleast 12-14 years. He last played for the Men in Blue in July 2021. After that, he made a comeback in the home T20I series against New Zealand earlier this year. But, Shaw did not get a chance.

“I want to win the World Cup for India.” - Prithvi Shaw

He said: “All the hard work is just for that. That is the one dream - I want to play, at least 12-14 years for India. I want to win the World Cup for India. That is there , I need to achieve that in my life. I need to work hard and score runs. That's the only way to get there. I am trying, let's see.” Shaw also said that he did not get the exact reason for getting dropped from the team.

He added: “When I was dropped , I didn't get to know the reason. Someone was saying it could be fitness. But of course I came here and cleared all the tests at the NCA, again scored runs and again came back to the T20 team. But again didn't get a chance in the West Indies. I'm disappointed but you just have to move forward. I can't do anything, I can't fight with anyone. As a person, I just like to be in my own zone. People say a lot of things about me. But those who know me, know how I am. I don't have friends, I don't like to make friends. This is what's happening with this generation.”
