The remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League(PSL) are most likely to be relocated to UAE. The Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) has approached the Emirates Cricket Board(ECB) to host the remaining matches of the PSL. Earlier, the matches were scheduled to take place in Karachi, however, given the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in Pakistan, all the six franchises and the National Command Operation Centre (NCOC) requested the PCB to move the tournament out of Karachi to UAE.

According to Cricinfo, the franchises sent a letter to the PCB requesting them to relocate the PSL matches to UAE last week and the PCB approved their proposal in a virtual meeting today. It is also reported that the PCB has cancelled their hotel booking in Karachi.

The 2021 edition of the PSL was suspended after just 14 games as several players and support staff tested positive for COVID-19. Later, they decided to squeeze out the remaining matches of PSL in June. Since several overseas players pulled out of the remaining matches, a replacement draft was organized where the franchises completed their squads. The recent spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in Pakistan made the franchises nervous about the fate of the tournament and they approached the PCB. If the matches are going to be played in UAE, the schedule of the PSL is most likely to be modified.

A switch to UAE is not an easy task as Pakistan will have to deal with logistical and operational issues. Also, there are number of travel restrictions imposed. A nationwide lockdown has been imposed in Pakistan till May 15 as well.
