Lahore Qalandars roped in Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the remaining matches of PSL while Karachi Kings got their hands on destructive Kiwi opener, Martin Guptill in the PSL replacement draft that took place earlier this week.
Lahore Qalandars were the most hit franchise as five of their overseas players pulled out of the PSL-6. In additions to Shakib Al Hasan, Qalandars picked, James Faulkner, Joe Burns, Callum Ferguson and Seekuge Prasanna.
Islamabad United too made a few replacements and roped in Usman Khawaja, Colin Munro and Janneman Malan. Talking about Karachi Kings, they picked up Martin Guptill, Najeebullah Zadran and Liton Das.
Multan Sultan roped in Mahmudullah Riyad, Rahman Ullah Gurbaz, George Linde and Obed McCoy. Fabian Allen, Rovman Powell and Fidel Edwards joined Peshawar Zalmi while Quetta Gladiators got the big fish, Andre Russell.
In another development, the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to hire a new director for the Pakistan Super League. Till now, PCB’s Director Commercial, Babar Hamid was looking after PSL matters, however, following allegations of mismanagement, the PCB have decided to look out for a permanent director.
The board will advertise for the role in the coming days. People willing to apply for the role need to submit their application by May 13. The first assignment for the new director will be the remaining matches of PSL that is set to get underway from June 1. As many as 14 matches were completed in PSL 2021 before the tournament was indefinitely postponed.
