It is impossible for former England skipper Michael Vaughan to stay away from the ire of Indian fans. Every now and then, he makes a controversial statement that propels the Indian fans to go berserk on him. Once again, Vaughan has faced the ire of the Indian fans for his comments. Apparently, after Rishabh Pant made a century to rescue his side from 98/5, the 2005 Ashes-winning skipper compared Pant to Jonny Bairstow.

In the tweet, the Manchester-born player said that Pant has done what Bairstow did in the Test series against New Zealand. For the unversed, Bairstow won the second and third Test for The Three Lions against the Kiwis last month with attacking stroke play. The cricketer-turned commentator pointed out the same after India's wicketkeeper batter's innings.

"This is great viewing .. @RishabhPant17 doing a Jonny B … #ENGvIND," tweeted the former England skipper.

After the tweet, the fans started reminding the 47-year-old that the left-hander has been changing the course of the Test matches since 2018. Not to forget, the Delhi player made his first international hundred in the 2018 tour of England where he made his Test debut. In the last game of the series, Pant scored 114 off 146 balls including 15 fours and four sixes.

That innings was special as it came on the last day of the game with the team struggling on 121/5, while chasing an improbable target of 464. Since then, the Haridwar-born player hasn't looked back. He played two match-winning knocks early last year, where the game was either heading towards a draw or loss. Four years after his debut, the former India U19 player scored yet another potential match-winning hundred.

He came out to bat when England were on the top after picking five wickets for 98 runs. The 24-year-old then scored 146 runs off just 111 balls including 19 fours and four sixes. He got an able partner in the form of Ravindra Jadeja and the duo stitched a partnership of 222 runs for the sixth wicket.
