The Asia Cup 2023 is still uncertain whether it will happen or not as India are still not accepting the Hybrid model that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) proposed. According to that model, India will play all of their matches in a neutral venue while other matches will be played in Pakistan as per schedule.

But, as per the latest developments, India and other Boards of Asian teams have rejected the model. So, still, fans are unsure about the Asia Cup. Now, PCB dealt another major blow as reports have come out that Champions Trophy 2025 could be moved away from Pakistan to West Indies and the USA.

Pakistan to get compensated if the Champions Trophy gets shifted from their country in 2025

According to reports of News18, the Apex Council of Cricket know that India will not travel to Pakistan. Hence, they do not want to take any risk and want to give the hosting rights to West Indies and the USA. However, Pakistan will be compensated. Both West Indies and the USA have also the hosting right for the 20-20 World Cup in 2024. But, that can be shifted to England as the infrastructure in those countries is not so capable of hosting such an event. In 2007, West Indies failed to host the 50-over World Cup successfully and hence, the Apex Council of Cricket are worried about hosting the 20-20 World Cup in 2024.

Even, the Champions Trophy is a shorter competition than the 20-20 World Cup and that gave a lesser financial risk also. A source close to the development said: “The current infrastructure situation in the USA is not very encouraging. Even if they successfully host the upcoming Major League Cricket, hosting an event like the 20-20 World Cup is a different ball game altogether. Where will you host the matches when the venues aren’t ready? Also, a long tournament in the far west could be a loss-making proposition for the broadcasters in the sub-continent, where the returns are highest.”
