Indian team qualified to the super four round of the Asia Cup 2022 with a win of 40 runs against Hong Kong in their second group match of the tournament. But apart from that, there was something else that made fans furious as pacers Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh jointly conceded 97 runs in their quota of eight overs.
They both conceded runs with an economy of more than 12 runs per over. Although it was the first time for Arshdeep to have such a terrible spell apart from that, Avesh Khan’s poor run of form with the ball continued against Hong Kong as well.
Avesh went on to concede 53 runs in his quota of four overs. The fans took no time in taking a dig at the 25-year-old’s horrible performance in India’s second match of the campaign in the Asia Cup 2022.
Here's how Twitter reacted to the performance of Avesh Khan:
Avesh Khan now has the worst economy rate in a calendar year for India in T20is - 9.10 (minimum 25 overs).

Selecting Avesh Khan ahead of Deepak Chahar is a crime.

How does he get picked for the Indian team above Mohammed Shami is beyond me. https://t.co/gnGuJYCXVt
No matter which team Avesh Khan is playing against, be it a strong team or a weak team, he will always concede runs. Unreal 🙏

RT if you agree that he's better bowler than Avesh Khan#ViratKohli𓃵 #INDvHK pic.twitter.com/xkHeaXA4DL

Fans make the joke that Avesh scored a fifty without even holding the bat for a single ball in the match. They went on to the extent of saying that Avesh’s fifty was much better than that of Suryakumar Yadav or Virat Kohli. Both batters had to work hard for scoring half-centuries but Avesh achieved it without much effort.
The speedster conceded runs with an economy rate of 9.10 runs per over. It was also the worst economy rate by any Indian bowler in the calendar year of 2022 so far after bowling a minimum of 25 years.
Experts and fans believe that India has far better options than Avesh Khan. They can opt for Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar in the playing XI for the upcoming matches of the Asia Cup 2022.
Avesh has performed below-par almost in all the matches he played so far for the Indian team in the T20 international cricket. Apart from him, no other bowler has got this many chances in the Indian team when it was about to make it to the playing XI in T20 internationals.
