Olympia D20 2023, Day 2: Pacific Stars make 3 in 3, First win for Toyam Warriors

On 13 May 2023, the stage was set for all four teams on the second day of the ‘Olympia D20’ tournament in Greece. Pacific Stars were coming off after two consecutive victories on day one. While both Toyam Warriors and DGTX Strikers were looking to open their account with some better performances.

Here is the result of two matches on day two of the Olympia D20 tournament:

Match 1: Pacific Stars vs DGTX Strikers

DGTX Strikers won the toss and opted to bowl first. Pacific Star got bundled out for 131 runs in 18.2 overs. For Strikers, Sajid Mohammad was the star with the ball as he picked up six wickets for 20 runs in four overs. But, in reply, the Strikers’ batters failed miserably and got bundled out for just 84 runs in 15.5 overs. Thus, the Stars won the match by 47 runs and it was their third consecutive win in this tournament so far. But, it was the second consecutive loss for the Strikers in the tournament. Stars’ Anil Kumar won the Player of the Match award for scoring 10 runs off six balls and taking three wickets for 11 runs in three overs.   

Match 2: USC Blasters vs Toyam Warriors

Toyam Warriors won the toss and asked USC Blasters to bat first. The Blasters scored 136 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Muhammad Awais was the highest scorer with 25 runs off 27 balls, including two fours only. In reply, the Warriors chased down the target in 19.1 overs and won the match by two wickets. Blasters’ Arsalaan Khan was the star of the show with the ball as he picked up five wickets for 20 runs in three overs. But, his effort went in vain as Toyam Warriors registered their first win of the tournament. Warriors skipper, Lagos Alex won the Player of the Match award for taking two wickets for 25 runs in four overs and scoring six runs off five balls, including one four. Meanwhile, this is now the second consecutive loss for USC Blasters after winning the opener.
