The Marylebone Cricket Club recognized ‘mankading’ as the standard method of running out the non-striker in March this year. Despite that, every time a bowler run-out a batter standing at the non-striker’s end, the debate reignites.
Another such incident took place in the first T20I match between India and South Africa’s women’s team on Tuesday. India’s left-arm spinner, Mannat Kasyap pulled off a ‘Mankad’ when she ran out South Africa’s Jenna Evans at the non-striker’s end.
Evans was seen backing too far away on numerous occasions and Kashyap, eventually, ran her out during one of her deliveries. She stopped midway through her stride and removed the bails, leaving the South African batters stunned.
Shafali Verma though withdrew the batter, later, and called Evans back. However, English cricketer, Danielle Wyatt took this as an opportunity to take a dig at India.
Taking to his social media handle, she shared the video of the incident and wrote,
"Oh no 🤦🏼♀️ I hope there’s none of this in the u19 WC! 🤢"
The Indian fans were in no mood to ignore her remark and gave befitting replies in the comment section. Here’s a look at some of the reactions to the same:
I completely agree with you!

Hope there is no calling back the player once they are dismissed.
We don't want U19 world champions who don't even understand the rules of the game!
Take that. pic.twitter.com/z0g6btrllQ

The MCC headquarters aren't too far for you people, you know. The kind of fuss the English people create over a rule, I'm sure all the England teams will be able to take time out and confront the MCC over the same.

Go on, then. Try and stop us if you can.
I hope there's tons more! At least the young ones will be learning to stay in the crease if it's too late for others.

India’s women’s under-19 team, meanwhile, have made a winning start to the five-match T20I series against South Africa. Led by Shafali Verma, the Indian team registered a comfortable 54-run win in the first match.
India batted first in that encounter and managed to post a 137-run total in their first innings. Skipper, Shafali Verma got out on a golden duck, but the likes of Shweta Sehrawat (40) and Soumya Tiwari (40) made valuable contributions with the bat.
India would be disappointed to not finish as good as they would have liked to but the total proved to be more than enough for them. South Africa could only managed 83 runs in the second innings.
The second T20 international is scheduled to be played on Thursday at LC de Villiers Oval in Pretoria.
