In a major piece of news, cricket’s governing body has announced the venue for the final of the ongoing World Test Championship 2023 to be played next year. Apart from this, they have also confirmed the venue for the final of the forthcoming World Test Championship 2023. Notably, the final of the previous edition of the WTC was played at the Southampton.

Talking about the finals of the WTC final 2023 and 2025 then these will be played at Oval and the Lord’s respectively.

Kane Williamson-led New Zealand won the first title of the Test championship after beating the Indians.

The Oval is set to host the title clash for the current edition of the WTC 2021. Earlier, this stadium had also hosted the finals of the 2004 and 2017 editions of the international men’s Champions Trophy.

Australia and South Africa are currently leading the points table in the WTC 2023. There are also a few teams that are there to surpass them in the table.

Pat Cummins-led Australians are on the top with a points percentage of 70 followed by the South African side who are on 60%. Australia and South Africa are also set to lock horns with each other in a three-match Test series later in the month of December and January, which might give them a chance to gain some points to improve on the table.

Speaking of the other teams, then Sri Lanka, India, and Pakistan are in the top five with percentages of 53.33%, 52.8%, and 51.85% respectively.

Chief Executive of the cricket’s governing body Geoff Allardice also talked about the confirmation of the venues for the finals of the World Test Championship in 2023 and 2025 respectively/

“We are delighted to be hosting next year’s ICC World Test Championship Final at The Oval which has such a rich legacy and an amazing atmosphere, which is ideal for such an important fixture on the calendar," said Allardice in the announcement.

"Following that we will then take the 2025 Final to Lord’s which will provide a fitting backdrop to the ultimate Test. Last year’s final between New Zealand and India in Southampton was an engrossing encounter and I am sure fans the world over would be looking forward to the next WTC final at The Oval. On behalf of the ICC, I would like to thank the England and Wales Cricket Board, Surrey County Cricket Club, and Marylebone Cricket Club for their support," he added later.
