Indian superstar Virat Kohli, after failing to score a century in the ODI format since August 2019, brought his 44th ODI hundred in the third game against Bangladesh on December 10, Saturday. While many have been hailing Kohli for the same, the right-handed batter came up with a post for the football legend, Cristiano Ronaldo, on Monday and won hearts yet again.

Ronaldo has been going through one of the toughest phases of his life, right from getting ousted from the Manchester United club to being benched for Portugal in the quarter-final clash against Morocco. Eventually, the veteran footballer has been receiving non–stop criticism for his interview with Piers Morgan, where he came up with a few sensational revelations about the Red Devils and their manager Erik ten Hag.

Amid all criticism, Kohli took to his Twitter account and backed Ronaldo for not having won the World Cup trophy yet. Further, highlighting Ronaldo’s epic career, the Indian superstar claimed that trophies do not decide a player’s potential, especially when it is already proven to the world. To draw a striking similarity, Kohli, who surpassed Ricky Ponting’s record of having the second most international hundreds with 72 to his name, is yet to win a World Cup himself.

“No trophy or any title can take anything away from what you’ve done in this sport and for sports fans around the world. No title can explain the impact you’ve had on people and what I and so many around the world feel when we watch you play. That’s a gift from god,” Kohli wrote on his Twitter account.

Fans point out Virat Kohli’s love for jersey Number 7

While a few heaped praise on Kohli for his heartfelt tweet, a few of his fans pointed out his unprecedented love for jersey Number 7, eventually Ronaldo flaunts the same jersey number. Notably, Kohli has been a great fan of former Indian wicketkeeper MS Dhoni and has always expressed his love for the batter time and time again on his social media accounts.

Fans were quick enough to recall the same and opined that his love for Number 7 remains unmatched. As things stand, Kohli will now have his eyes set on the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh set to get underway on Wednesday and the Indian batter would hope to make a strong comeback in the format, given that he has already made it in ODI and T20I.
