India Women and Australia Women faced off against each other in the second T20I of the five-match series on December 11, Sunday and the match looked like it could go either way until the very end. As far as the first innings is concerned, the Australian women batted first and they carried on the momentum from the first game.

To add more to Australia’s first innings, while skipper Alyssa Healy perished for 25 runs, the likes of Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath joined hands to put on over 160 runs stand for the second wicket. While Mooney scored 82 runs at a strike rate of over 150, McGrath, on the other hand, scored 70 runs and both batters remained unbeaten towards the end of the innings.

It was a heartbreak yet again for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led brigade as her bowlers let her down yet again. Deepti Sharma remained the sole wicket-taker for the team and eventually, it was the Australian captain’s scalp that many thought might pave way for the mighty Kangaroo collapse.

With Australia leading the series 1-0, Harmanpreet and her women marched on to the crease with supreme confidence. Much to the delight of the Indian fans, Shafali Verma, the young Indian opener, got off to a flyer before Alana King removed her with a stupendous delivery. To add more, Shafali managed to score 34 runs and get India off to a flyer on a crucial day. However, Jemimah Rodrigues, who came in at Number 3, failed to deliver for the team and followed Shafali in quick succession post contributing 4 runs to India’s scoreboard.

Smriti Mandhana and the skipper Harmanpreet joined hands yet again and lifted the team from the labyrinth, eventually setting the tone for the chase. At the end of the day, India managed to tie the game and entertained the crowd to the fullest, with Mandhana top-scoring for India with her 78. Regarding the super over, India women managed to score 20 runs after facing 6 balls in total. In reply, Healy's brigade failed to chase down the total and eventually lost the match by 4 runs in the super over.
