The next edition of the Asia Cup is going to happen in 2023. However, the secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, Jay Shah said that India will not travel to Pakistan and the tournament will take place in a neutral venue. After that, then PCB Chairman, Ramiz Raja said that the Men in Green will opt out of the 2023 ODI World Cup if India do not come for the Asia Cup.

After Ramiz Raja, Najam Sethi became the new Chairman of the Board. But, on 5 January, Jay Shah shared a tweet where he shared all the schedules of Asian Cricket in 2023 and 2024. But, the current PCB Chairman did not like it as he came up and took a dig at Jay Shah on Twitter. The shared structure didn't go into host details for this year's Asia Cup but included all continental tournaments.

India last visited Pakistan in 2008

Najam Sethi wrote: “Thank you @JayShah for unilaterally presenting @ACCMedia1 structure & calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which is the event host. While you are at it, you might as well present the structure & calendar of our PSL 2023! A swift response will be appreciated.” He blamed Shah for sharing the pathway structure without any consultation with them as they are the host of the Asia Cup this year. Only a September window has been provided for the tournament. Now, Asian Cricket Council's (ACC) emergency meeting is going to take on 4 February in Bahrain. In this meeting, the fate will be decided over Pakistan hosting the 2023 Asia Cup.

A close source to the Indian Cricket Board said: "PCB's newly elected chief Najam Sethi wants an urgent meeting with ACC chief and members and he expressed this wish in front of ACC members during ILT 20 opening ceremony in Dubai. Now the meeting will be in Bahrain and the main agenda of the meeting is to decide the fate of the 2023 Asia cup, whether it will be held in Pakistan or not. Most likely it will be held in another country rather than Pakistan." However, some reports close to PTI have come out that India will not change their stance. They will not visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023.
