‘Mumbai ko haarte hue dekhke shanti hai’ - Fans react as GT defeat MI by 55 runs in IPL 2023

On 25 April 2023, Gujarat Titans (GT) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL. The 35th match of the tournament took place at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. MI came to this clash after a defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS). While GT came to this match after a win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

So, fans were hoping for an enthralling battle as MI were looking to get back in winning ways. Speaking of the match, Rohit won the toss and asked GT to bat first. For GT, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha came out for the opening. But, Saha got out after scoring only four runs off seven balls.

GT defeated MI by 55 runs in IPL 2023

Then, Shubman Gill played some outstanding shots and scored 56 runs off 34 balls. He hit seven fours and one six. Skipper Hardik Pandya again failed to convert a start into a big score as he got out on 13 runs off 14 balls. GT were in trouble after losing four wickets for 101 runs in 12.2 overs. But, after that, Abhinav Manohar scored 42 runs off 21 balls, including three fours and three sixes. David Miller scored 46 runs off 22 balls, including two fours and four sixes. In the death overs, Rahul Tewatia also smashed 20* runs off five balls, including three sixes.

Thus, they scored 207 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. For MI, only Piyush Chawla took two wickets for 34 runs in four overs. For the chase, Rohit Sharma came out along with Ihsan Kishan. But, the MI skipper failed again as he got out on two runs. After that, the following batters also failed cheaply as they were in all sorts of trouble after losing five wickets for 59 runs in 11 overs. Then, other batters tried hard but finally, MI scored 152 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Nehal Wadhera scored 40 runs off 21 balls, including three sixes and three fours. Thus, GT defeated MI by 55 runs.
