England has now become the second team from Group 1 to make a cut to the knockouts of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The three lions managed to cross the line against the Sri Lankan team in their last match of the super-12 stage.

The Middlesex-born senior batter Alex Hales has recently made a comeback to the English team following the exclusion of Jason Roy due to poor form and the senior wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow couldn’t make it to the tournament due to an injury he sustained when he was playing golf.

Speaking of Hales, he hasn’t featured in the international arena for England under the captaincy of former skipper Eoin Morgan following the 2019 ODI World Cup. But the former’s comeback in the white-ball format has gone quite a bit successful for the English team.

He played a very crucial knock of 47 off 30 balls against Sri Lanka in their last super-12 match. This individual knock from Hales helped Jos Buttler’s men to cross the line to secure their berth in the semi-finals

Following the conclusion of the match between England and Sri Lanka, Hales was in a conversation with the English broadcasters of Sky Sports. Former World Champion England skipper Eoin Morgan was also a part of the panel and was supposed to interview Hales. The eagle-eyed fans took no time in noticing the ignorance from Hales for Eoin Morgan. It could be seen that Hales didn’t even look at Morgan during the entire three-minute conversation.

Here's how fans reacted to the reaction from Alex Hales

In a shocking line of events, Hales was snubbed from the English team under Morgan’s captaincy when the former failed a drug test. It all happened just a month before the commencement of the 2019 ODI World Cup.

“On the cusp of a World Cup, the huge breakdown in trust between him and the players was extremely dramatic. I’ve certainly spoken to Alex and see an avenue for him to come back. But, like in life and any sport, when there’s a breakdown of trust the only healer in that is time. It’s only been 13 months since the incident. Given that it could have derailed a World Cup campaign, it will take more time,” said Morgan at an event back in the year 2020

“It’s not about performance with Alex, he’s a fantastic player and it’s never been discussed as to whether he’s good enough to be in the squad. It’s about on and off the field and the values, we adhere to. Alex showed complete disregard for them and he needs to build that up for as long as he can and, hopefully, an opportunity will present itself along the line," he added later.
