The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) will be clashing against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 57th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday, May 12. GT are currently the table toppers with 16 points in points while MI are on 4th place with 12 points in 11 matches.

However, if GT win against MI they will be qualified for the playoffs and will also confirm their top 2 spots which will get them an advantage in the playoff matches, although, if they lose, it won’t affect them too much as they will still have two matches more. Interestingly, GT’s victory will also benefit the other teams except for MI.

The five-time champions can’t afford losses at this stage of the tournament and will look to produce a remarkable performance against GT. It’d be interesting to see how MI batters will respond to GT bowlers’ tough questions as their both pace and spin department are doing well in the tournament.

Talking about the match, MI will hope that their skipper Rohit Sharma gets his form back as he hasn’t produced anything special in the league so far. As the tournament is getting near to its final stages it is very important for Rohit to score runs. However, MI’s middle order have exceptional so far in the season as in the last match which was against, Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera made a mockery of RCB’s 200-run target. MI have also created a tremendous record of chasing a target of more than 200 runs 3 times.

On the other hand, GT's opening batters Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha are currently in red-hot form and they will be the difference between both the teams. MI will hope to dismiss their openers as soon as possible. However, it'd be interesting to see how will they get rid of them as MI's bowling department has been a failure so far in the season.
