On 28 April 2023, Punjab Kings (PBKS) locked horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing IPL at Mohali. However, it was a disappointing outing for PBKS in front of the home crowd as LSG defeated them by 56 runs. After the match, LSG shared a cheeky tweet for Punjab Police along with a picture of Kagiso Rabada’s dismissal.

Naveen-ul-Haq took the wicket as the slower ball hit the middle stump and it got knocked off the ground. LSG tweeted: “Hey, @PunjabPoliceInd. This is awkward…”. Seeing that fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. It seemed that LSG took the dig as PBKS did the same after their victory over Mumbai Indians (MI).

During the MI vs PBKS clash at Wankhede Stadium, Arshdeep Singh broke the middle stump twice in the last over of the game. Hence, after that, PBKS tweeted: “Hey @MumbaiPolice, we'd like to report a crime.” In reply, Mumbai Police tweeted: “Action is most likely to be taken on breaking the law, not stumps!” So, fans were happy that PBKS received the same treatment after the LSG loss.

Speaking of the match, LSG batted first and put up the second-highest score in the history of IPL on the board. They scored 257 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. In reply, PBKS got bundled out for 201 runs in 19.5 overs. However, Marcus Stoinis won the Player of the Match award for his blistering knock of 72 runs off 40 balls and one wicket with the ball.

After the loss during the post-match presentation, PBKS skipper, Shikhar Dhawan said: “We gave too many runs away and we paid the price for it. I feel that the strategy to play with one extra fast bowler backfired whereas KL used an extra spinner. I tried to change something and it didn't work but that's all right. It's a good learning for me and we'll come back better stronger. There was no particular reason. Livi was there and even Sam hits quite well so that's how we kept it. It's good. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but that's how it is."
