The first day of the mega auction was as exciting as it could get. While several players bagged a lucrative contract, a few individuals ended up making a fortune. The first day saw a few teams go all out in order to purchase a few stars. Thus, the life a few players have certainly changed forever. Here are the five most expensive players on day one of the mega auction.

1) Ishan Kishan - ( INR 15.25 crore )

Kishan's demand was so high that a few teams compromised on buying other players so that they could save their purse for him. A huge bidding war between Hyderabad and Mumbai finally ended with the five-time champions buying him for a whopping amount of INR 15.5 crore. As of now, he's the most expensive player of this auction. As a matter of fact, he also became the second-most expensive Indian player after Yuvraj Singh (INR 16 crore) in the history of the league.

2) Deepak Chahar - ( INR 14 crore )

Owing to his current form, there was a lot of hype around Deepak Chahar. Thus, several teams decided to engage in a bidding battle to acquire his services. However, in what turned out to be a fitting homecoming, Chennai managed to get him back for INR 14 crore. It is to be noted that this is the first time that the yellow army spent over INR 10 crore on an individual in an auction.

3) Shreyas Iyer ( INR 12.25 crore )

It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that Shreyas Iyer was the blue-eyed boy heading into the mega auction. As several teams needed a captain, a few sides seemed adamant to get him in their side. Thus, after a stiff tussle, Kolkata finally managed to buy him. Hence, in all likelihood, the Mumbai batter will lead the two-time champions.

4) Harshal Patel/Shardul Thakur ( INR 10.75 crore )

The MVP of the previous edition of the league received a major pay-rise from his former franchise as Bangalore acquired his services for INR 10.75 crore. Not only is he a superb death bowler, but he can also be handy with the bat. Moreover, he's a wicket-taker. Thus, watching him go for big bucks wasn't surprising for anyone. Shardul Thakur also earned 10.75 crore. Delhi acquired his services after stiff tussle with Punjab, Gujarat and Chennai.

5) Wanindu Hasaranga ( INR 10 crore )

Wanindu Hasaranga has been in the form of his life. In fact, he has been one of the best bowlers in the shortest format of the game for quite a while now. Add to that his hitting-ability with the bat. Thus, after a massive bidding war between Punjab and Bangalore, the team for which Hasaranga played in 2021 managed to buy him back for INR 10.75 crore.
