Cricketers have always been a fan of footballers around the globe. Players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, etc have expressed their love for the game. Another Indian cricketer, Shreyas Iyer, has also expressed his love for the sport. The batter has said that Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo is his favourite sportsperson of all time. He said this in a conversation with the Kolkata franchise which he led in the Indian T20 League 2022.

However, this shouldn't be a surprise for the fans this is not something he said for the first time. A couple of years back when the world had gone into lockdowns due to the relentless spreading of COVID-19, the right-hander had revealed the same to a Twitter user. The user had asked him which one of Messi or Ronaldo is his favourite. The Mumbai player chose the latter.

Currently, the 27-year-old is under scrutiny for the way he has been batting against pacers in the ongoing five-match T20I series against South Africa. The right-hander has hit only a few boundaries against pacers in the series. On the contrary, he has looked comfortable against the spinners. The reason for this is his weakness against the back of a length and short-pitched bowling. In the 15th season of the Indian T20 League, he dealt with the same problem.

A lot of former cricketers have pointed this out and have expressed their concerns with the 20-20 World Cup to be played in Australia later this year. The pitches down under will have more bounce than the Indian pitches which is why he might be in trouble during the showpiece event. A lot of fans and cricket experts have said that Suryakumar Yadav must be included in the event in place of Iyer.

For the unversed, Yadav is out for the South Africa series owing to an injury he suffered during the cash-rich league. He will be making his comeback in the Ireland series later this month.
