The Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squared off in the Arun Jaitley Stadium's final IPL 2023 league stage game on May 20, 2023. Since CSK had 15 points from seven victories in 13 games, they needed to win to confirm qualification. On the other hand, DC was the first team to be ruled out of the IPL playoffs in 2023. Thanks to Shivam Dube's 22 in 9 and Ravindra Jadeja's 20* in 7, CSK finished with a huge 223/3 after 20 overs. Notably, this would be CSK's first-ever Playoff without Suresh Raina.

Raina, dubbed as 'Mr IPL', has something of a GOAT status when it comes to IPL Playoffs. He has a superb record. He has scored the most runs – 714, the most fifties – 7, and the fastest fifty - 16 balls. He has also scored the most sixes – 40, most fours – 51 and the joint most POTM awards – 3, all while recording the best Strike Rate - 155.35.

CSK will play GT in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2023 Playoffs

Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings will square off in the opening IPL 2023 qualifying game on Tuesday night in Chepauk. The site will host the first game involving the reigning champions. However, this will be these two rivals' second meeting of the season. GT and CSK started the season at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, where the home team triumphed by a margin of five wickets. The Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants will face off in the Eliminator on Wednesday at the same site.
