Virat Kohli is currently busy playing for team India in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But, his form has been a concern for the team and fans in this series. After having a long draught in all formats of the game, Kohli finally managed to make a comeback in the T20Is and ODIs by the end of 2022.
But, his form in the longest format of the game is still an issue. His last Test ton came in 2019 against Bangladesh. But, now, the former Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar claimed that Virat Kohli should get all the praise as his centuries used to win all the matches for team India during one stage.

While speaking on Suno News, Shoaib Akhtar said: “See, I believe Sachin Tendulkar is the best batsman in the world. But as a captain, he was lost. He left the captaincy himself. I was talking to one of my friends about Virat Kohli and we were discussing the same thing. He was lost and when he works on his mind, he will perform. When his mind became free, he ruled the 20-20 World Cup”.
Akhtar further added: “You also need to look that almost 40 centuries from Kohli came in run chases. Log kehte hain tum Virat ki bohot tareef karte ho, main kehta hu kaise naa karu? (People tell me that you praise Virat Kohli a lot. I just say, why shouldn’t I do that?) During one stage, India used to win because of Virat’s hundreds”.
The former team India skipper has been one of the best batters in the history of Indian cricket. As of now, Kohli has scored 25097 runs in 493 international matches for the Men in Blue across all three formats. He has also scored 74 centuries along with 129 fifties. But, fans were not happy with the statement from Akhtar as they claimed that India won because of all the players, not only Kohli.
