‘Ladke Sher to ladkia SawaSher’ - Fans troll Bangalore after conceding 223 runs against Delhi in Women’s T20 League

On 5 March 2023, the Bangalore franchise took on Delhi in the second match of the Women’s T20 League. All eyes were on Smriti Mandhana and her star-studded franchise as fans were hoping for a blistering start from them. Ahead of the clash against Delhi, Mandhana said that the first game will be a huge one for them.

While talking to reporters, the Bangalore skipper said: "Well yeah, definitely a big moment for I think all of us including all the overseas (players) as well because it is first ever WPL match. We have been part of teams where we have played in pressure situations. One thing we always tell and that is the one thing that we have to go and enjoy and have each other's back." 

Delhi scored 223 runs for just two wickets against Bangalore in Brabourne stadium

Speaking of the match, Bangalore won the toss and elected to bowl first. For Delhi, the skipper Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma came out to open the innings. But, they did not disappoint their fans as the opening pair put up a solid partnership of 162 runs in 14.3 overs. Meg Lanning scored 72 runs off 43 balls, including 14 fours. Along with her, Shafali scored 84 runs off 45 balls, including 10 fours and four sixes. Lanning batted at a strike rate of 167.44 while Shafali Verma batted 186.66. Then, Marizanne Kapp scored 39* runs off 17 balls, including three fours and three sixes. She batted at a staggering strike rate of 229.41.

Apart from them, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 22* runs off 15 balls, including three boundaries. Thus, they put up a mammoth total of 223 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. For Bangalore, only Heather Knight took those two wickets for 40 runs in three overs. But, fans went crazy after such a dismal performance from the Bangalore franchise’s bowlers in their first match of the tournament. They came up and shared their views on the social media.
