Sheldon Jackson is one of the stars in the Indian domestic circuit and the wicketkeeper proved his worth in the summit clash of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 on December 2, Thursday against Maharashtra. For the unversed, chasing a target of 249, it was Jackson who scored a stupendous century and helped the team chase down the total.

To add more, Jackson scored 133 runs and remained unbeaten as Saurashtra clinched their second title post winning it for the first time in 2019. It was a cracking contest at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad and the Jaydev Unadkat-led team held their nerves towards the end of the match. 

As far as the first innings is concerned, Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Chennai star, who is in red-hot form, scored yet another century to his name and perished for 108 runs, remaining the highest run-scorer for his team in the summit clash. Azim Kazi and Naushad Shaikh scored a well-crafted 37 and 31 to help the team put on a decent total on board.

Unadkat has been impressive as a captain of the team in the ongoing tournament and it remains to be seen if the pacer could make a comeback for the Indian team in the international arena, although it looks highly unlikely at the moment. 

Concerning the chase, while Harvik Desai scored a 50 to his name, Jackson steadied the innings for his team and scored the mighty total with his stupendous effort. Chirag Jani joined hands with the batter later in the innings and the duo ensured that Saurashtra crossed the line in the end. 

Jackson has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit and has been overlooked more often than not. It remains to be seen if he could get a call-up for India, although his age could come as a concern for his debut. Even if he fails to make his international debut, Jackson would forever remain a superstar in the domestic arena.
