The stage was set at Mohali, Punjab on 3 May 2023 when Punjab Kings (PBKS) hosted Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL. In the reverse fixture, PBKS defeated MI at Wankhede, Mumbai in a high-scoring thriller. So, they were looking to double over Rohit Sharma and his men in front of the home crowd.

However, MI batters were in form as they chased down a mammoth total of 215 runs in 18.5 overs with six wickets to spare. After the win, MI came up with a cheeky tweet for all Police departments, and seeing that, fans went crazy. It seemed that it was the reply from the franchise to the tweet that PBKS shared after their victory at Wankhede.

Speaking of the tweet, MI wrote: “To all Police departments, Nothing to report here. We just played a game of cricket in Mohali and a team was beaten here. You guys have important matters to take care of. Thank you for your services as always #OneFamily #PBKSvMI #MumbaiMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians #TATAIPL.” In the revere fixture, Arshdeep Singh broke two stumps in the last over and defended the total for his team. Regarding that, PBKS tweeted: “Hey @MumbaiPolice, we’d like to report a crime.” In reply, Mumbai Police tweeted: “Action is most likely to be taken on breaking the law, not stumps!”

However, after this win, MI have now 10 points in nine games. During the post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma said: "When we started T20 format, 140-150 was a winning score. But look at this one. Plus one extra batter makes a huge difference as well. Not just to us but across the IPL. I just checked that the average score this IPL is 180. Look he has been doing that for the last couple of years. Batted brilliantly. To play behind the wicket, that's his strength and he utilised it really well. Surya and Kishan batted brilliantly and good finish by Tim and Tilak.”
