On 18 May 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) took on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL in Hyderabad. Before this clash, RCB were in fifth position with 12 points in 12 games. While SRH were in the last position with eight points in 12 games. RCB were looking to win this game to strengthen their chances for the playoffs.

While SRH were looking to spoil the party for them in front of the home crowd. Speaking of the match, Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl first. For SRH, Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi came out to open. But, SRH lost both of them within 4.3 overs for 28 wickets. Then, Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen tried to settle the ship.

RCB defeated SRH by eight wickets

They put up a partnership of 76 runs for the third wicket. Markram failed cheaply again after a start as he scored 18 runs off 20 balls. But, it was Klaasen who lit up the stadium as he smashed his maiden IPL ton. He smashed 104 runs off 51 balls, including eight fours and six sixes. Finally, SRH scored 186 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. For RCB, Michael Bracewell took two wickets for 13 runs in two overs. While Mohammed Siraj, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Harshal Patel took one wicket each.

In reply, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli came out as openers. They gave a blistering start to the team as they reached 64 runs for no wickets in six overs. They continued the carnage as RCB reached 150 runs without losing any wickets in 15 overs. Kohli scored his fifty off 35 balls while du Plessis scored fifty off 34 balls. But, Kohli smashed his sixth IPL ton and scored 100 runs off 63 balls, including 12 fours and four sixes. RCB’s first wicket fell on 172 runs in 17.5 overs. Then, Faf du Plessis got out on 71 runs off 47 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Finally, RCB chased down the target in 19.2  overs and won the game by eight wickets.
