But, Sanju Samson made headlines as he again missed a place in the ODI squad. Fans were not happy as they were hoping to see him in the squad. They also pointed out some players like KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Deepak Hooda who were preferred ahead of Samson for the ODI series. The Indian Cricket Board have been always heavily criticized for ignoring Sanju Samson during any squad announcement.

Sanju Samson has an average of 66 in ODIs while batting in the middle order

Samson last played for India in the home T20I series against Sri Lanka. But, in the first match in Wankhede, he sustained a knee injury that ruled him out of the series. After that, he missed the home series against the Kiwis also. Currently, he is busy recovering from that injury. However, ahead of the ODI series against Australia, the wicketkeeper batter shared an update on his official Instagram account. Sanju Samson shared an image of him fully padded up with a caption: “All set & Ready to go…”. It seemed that the young batter is fully recovered and is available for the selection of the Australia series.

But, the selectors again ignored him as they announced the ODI series squad on 19 February. Some fans also claimed that they should consider him ahead of KL Rahul as the latter has been in terrible form across any formats for the Men in Blue. Speaking of Samson’s career in ODIs, he has played 11 matches so far. In 10 innings, he has scored 330 runs, at an average of 66. Despite having such a great stat in the 50-over format, fans were shocked to see him out of the squad for the upcoming ODI series.
