Sanju Samson led the Rajasthan franchise to the final in the last edition of the Indian T20 League

Samson had a great last season as the captain of the Rajasthan franchise in the Indian T20 League. He lost the final against the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat franchise. In that season, Sanju Samson scored 458 runs in 17 matches, at an average of 28.62. While Hetmyer scored 314 runs in 15 matches, at an average of 44.85. So, both these players’ forms will be crucial for the franchise in the next edition in 2023.

Speaking about Sanju Samson’s current injury, the Indian Cricket Board shared an official statement. It reads: “Samson hurt his left knee while attempting to field a ball near the boundary ropes during the first T20I and has been advised rest and rehabilitation.” He last played for India in the home T20I series against the Lankans.

In the first T20I, he scored just five runs off six balls. After that, he did not play the next two matches of that series. For India, Sanju Samson has played 11 ODIs where he has scored 330 runs in 10 innings. On the other hand, Samson has scored 301 runs in 16 innings, at an average of 20.06. So, he will look to make a solid comeback for team India after recovering from this injury.
