On 3 March 2023, Australia defeated India by nine wickets in the third Test in Indore. After this win, the Aussies have now qualified for the final of the World Test championship. Even, they will look to draw the series now by winning the next match in Ahmedabad. But, Cheteshwar Pujara made headlines as he won a surprising award in the match.

Pujara won the strongest player of the match award for hitting the longest six of the match. It was quite surprising for fans to see him winning this award as he is not known for hitting big sixes. Seeing that, fans came up and shared some funny tweets and memes all over the internet.

Cheteshwar Pujara scored 60 runs in the Indore Test against the Aussies

Pujara hit just one six in the match when he smashed Nathan Lyon at deep midwicket in the 55th over India’s second innings. However, it turned out to be the longest six in the match and thus, he won the award during the post-match presentation ceremony. Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. India got bundled out for just 109 runs in 33.2 overs. Pujara scored only one run off four balls as Lyon disturbed his stumps with his spin. In Australia’s first innings, they gained a lead of 88 runs.

Then, in India’s second innings, Cheteshwar Pujara scored a fighting fifty before getting out on 59 runs off 142 balls. He smashed five fours and one sixes, at a strike rate of 41.54. India got bundled out for 163 runs and gave Australia a target of 76 runs. The Aussies chased it down with ease and won the match by nine wickets. Nathan Lyon won the player of the match award for taking 11 wickets in the match. Now, the fourth Test between these sides will take place in Ahmedabad on 9 March.
