Team India are all set to take on Australia in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) at the Oval, from 7-11 June 2023. However, fans are eagerly waiting to see Ajinkya Rahane as he last played for the Men in Blue in January 2022 in the Test series in South Africa. After that, he failed to keep a place in the squad. During the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy, he scored 634 runs in 11 innings at an average of 57.64, including two centuries for Mumbai.
Rahane even got stripped off the central contract by the Indian Cricket Board in the 2022-23 cycle. After having a good domestic and IPL season, he is now all set to make a comeback for India. Now, ahead of this clash, the Indian Cricket Board shared a video where he was asked about his favourite travel partner for him when the team are in the UK. In reply to that, the veteran batter took Rohit Sharma’s name.

Seeing such a reply, fans came up with some funny tweets. Speaking of Rahane, he is also coming to this clash after winning IPL 2023 with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In the final also, he played a crucial role with his blistering knock of 27 runs off 13 balls, including two fours and two sixes. He finished the season with 326 runs in 14 games, at an average of 32.60 and a strike rate of 172.49. Rahane also smashed two fifties. After the final, he also thanked CSK management for backing him.
Rahane said: “Credit goes to CSK management for backing me. They said they would back me completely if I got an opportunity. The victory is really special. Great team man [on Rayudu]. The knock he played today was really special.” However, the former Team India player, Sanjay Manjrekar is not having high hopes from this batter in the final. While speaking on Star Sports, he said: “I don’t think you will see a different Ajinkya Rahane in this Test match. If he is successful, it is very good, but I will not have too many expectations from him. My main players will be Rohit Sharma, Pujara and Virat Kohli.”
