Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won their fifth IPL title on 29 May 2023 after defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad. However, Tushar Deshpande was a part of the squad who came up with some contributions throughout the season with the ball. In 16 matches, he took 21 wickets at an economy of 9.92.

In the middle of the tournament, he was also the purple cap holder but by the end of the tournament, Deshpande finished in joint-fourth position in the race for the cap. Now, an image has gone viral where this CSK pacer was seen receiving a massive welcome in his return to home town after winning IPL 2023. Seeing that fans shared their views.

In the final, he had a terrible outing as Deshpande failed to take any wickets despite conceding 56 runs in four overs. After the win in the final, he was over the moon and said: “As I said before the tournament started, I wanted to win the IPL title, and with DJ by my side, all my plans are clear.”  In an exclusive chat with Indian Express, the pacer shared his gratefulness towards MS Dhoni for always standing by him.

He said: “Once I didn’t bowl well, he said not to worry. Don’t get bog down and just follow the process. Once during presentation he had said that the new impact rule, 200 plus score is the new normal. His mind is clear when he speaks. He gave the surety which is what (young) players want.”

“You know you have someone who will guide and show the light when things are not going in our favour. He is a selfless guy and keeps things simple. He doesn’t complicate things and will be with you in your bad times. Like a soldier I will just follow whatever he says. I know he can never take me on a wrong path,” Deshpande concluded.
