‘Kasam se bhai mazaa aa gaya’ - Fans react as GT defeat LSG convincingly by 56 runs in IPL 2023

On 7 May 2023, the stage was set at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad as Gujarat Titans (GT) locked horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing IPL. In the reverse fixture, LSG suffered a defeat against GT. So, they were looking for a win this time around. While GT were looking for another win in front of their home crowd.

Speaking of the match, LSG’s stand-in skipper, Krunal Pandya came out for the toss along with Hardik Pandya. However, Krunal won the toss and asked GT to bat first. For GT, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill came out to bat. Since the first ball of the innings, they ripped apart the LSG bowlers. 

GT defeated LSG by 56 runs in IPL 2023

They scored 142 runs in 12.1 overs for the first wicket. Wriddhiman Saha smashed 81 runs off 43 balls, including 10 fours and four sixes. After him, skipper Hardik scored 25 runs off 15 balls, including one four and two sixes. Then, Shubman Gill and David Miller remained not out as GT scored 227 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. Gill scored 94* runs off 51 balls, including two fours and seven sixes. While Miller scored 21* runs off 12 balls, including two fours and one six. For LSG, both Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan took one wicket each.

In reply, LSG batters managed a solid start courtesy of Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayers. The first wicket fell after they scored 88 runs in 8.2 overs. Mayers scored 48 runs off 32 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Then, Hooda failed once again as he scored just 11 runs off 11 balls. De Kock scored 70 runs off 41 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. However, in the later part of the innings, batters failed to time the balls properly and as a result, GT bowlers trapped them with ease. Finally, LSG scored 171 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs and GT won the match by 56 runs. Mohit Sharma took four wickets.
