In a recent piece of news, the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) appointed the former West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard as the consultant coach of the national men’s cricket team. England will be acquiring Pollard’s coaching services during the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, England recently faced a 2-3 loss in the five-match T20I series against West Indies in West Indies.

England and Wales Cricket Board are currently in the process of gearing up their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. One of the most disappointing things for England is that they haven’t won a single ODI or T20I series in the calendar year of 2023. It is also embarrassing for the Three Lions as they are currently the defending champions in the T20I format after clinching the title of the T20 World Cup 2022.
England Cricket Board makes official announcement
“Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has been appointed to the England Men’s coaching team for next year’s Men’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States. Pollard will join the England Men’s team specifically for the T20 World Cup as an assistant coach and to provide expertise on local conditions,” reads the press release officially issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
“Pollard was a part of West Indies’ 2012 Men’s T20 World Cup success and has vast experience in the format having played more than 600 matches,” the press release adds further.
Meanwhile, this decision from the ECB also garnered a lot of reactions from the cricket fans; they also trolled the England cricket team for their poor performances in the last couple of months, especially in white-ball cricket. Notably, England had a very miserable run in the ODI World Cup 2023, played earlier this year.
They were knocked out from the league stage of the tournament as they lost 6 matches, out of the 9 matches, they played in the group stage.
