Team India had a forgettable performance from their batters on day two of the Delhi Test as they got bundled out for 262 runs. On day one, the Aussies managed only 263 runs. Thus, the visitors managed a one-run lead. However, the fans in Delhi were hoping for a significant score from Virat Kohli. Despite coming back in form in the other two white-ball formats, Kohli has failed to replicate that in the longest format of the game.

First, he had a disappointing Test series in Bangladesh. Then, in the series opener in Nagpur, Kohli scored just 12 runs off 26 runs, with two fours. So, the stage was set for Kohli in this match. India kicked off day two with 21 runs on the board without losing any wickets. But, suddenly, both the openers went back to dug out ass India were struggling at 53 runs for two wickets. 

Gautam Gambhir has always been a critic of Virat Kohli

Fans were not happy to see Gautam Gambhir supporting the on-field umpire over the controversial dismissal decision on Virat Kohli. Speaking of the match, Kohli came out to bat at his number four position. He tried to play a gritty knock on that turning track against the Aussie spinners. But, he scored 44 runs off 84 balls, including four boundaries. However, it became controversial for the decision given by the umpire, Nitin Menon.

The incident took place during the 50th over of India’s innings. Debutant Matthew Kuhnemann was bowling. On the third delivery of that over, Kohli went for a front-foot defense. But, the ball hit the pads and the Aussies went for a loud appeal. Umpire Nitin Menon gave him out and Kohli went for a review. During the replay, it was seen that the ball might have hit both the pad and bat at the same time. But, the third umpire, Richard Illingworth did not overturn the decision and thus, Kohli got out.

Now, regarding that dismissal, both Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, and fans were not happy, But, the former India cricketer, Gautam Gambhir claimed that the on-field umpire was right while giving the former India skipper out. He also claimed that people would not discuss it if the decision was given to Mohammed Shami. After hearing such a statement, fans went crazy and slammed Gautam Gambhir for showing jealousy toward Kohli.
