The last over of a chase is especially crucial given how high-scoring Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has been when no total—not even ones above 200—has been guaranteed. Sandeep Sharma of the Rajasthan Royals kept his composure against the legendary MS Dhoni to emerge victorious. At the same time, Yash Dayal of the Gujarat Titans struck poorly as he was hit for five consecutive sixes in the Rinku Singh attack. Mumbai Indians attempted to recover in the high-scoring Wankhede match on Saturday, but Arshdeep Singh's superb last-over bowling prevented the hosts from breaking the record.

Mumbai Indians had not one but three key partnerships that kept the home team on track to a chase never previously accomplished at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL play after losing Ishan Kishan in the second over. Before the Australian and Suryakumar Yadav joined forces for a 75-run partnership and helped Mumbai glide to 182 for four in the 18th over, captain Rohit Sharma and Cameron Green put up a 76-run stand, with his 13-ball 25; Tim David also played a significant part in reducing the equation to 16 required off six.

PBKS won the match by 13 run against MI

Arshdeep Singh was given the assignment for the last over after bowling an outstanding 18th over that resulted in the loss of Suryakumar for nine runs. Tilak Varma failed to make contact with the ball on the following delivery, but David managed a single off the first pitch. To dismiss Tilak and Nehal Wadhera, who had entered as an impact players, Arshdeep produced two consecutively brilliant yorkers, right in the blockhole, with MI needing 15 from four. The stump, valued at 24 lahks, split in half on both occasions as the left-armer loaded it full and trapped the base of the middle peg.

"One pair of stumps cost approximately 48,000 NZD. These come in pairs, so if even one stump gets damaged, the entire set is rendered useless," a stadium official of The Bay Oval had told Hindustan Times. Regarding the game, Jofra Archer only managed just one run out of the final two balls as PBKS prevailed by 13 runs.
