The sixteenth season of the Indian T20 League is set to commence on March 31, with the defending champions Gujarat hosting the four-time ITL winners, Chennai, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The ITL 2023 season promises to be an exciting one, with 70 matches being played in the league stage, culminating in the final scheduled for Sunday, May 28, also at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Following the mini-auction held in December, all ten teams will fight it out to clinch the coveted title. The ten teams have been divided into two groups - Group A consisting of Mumbai, Rajasthan, Kolkata, Delhi and Lucknow while Group B comprises Chennai, Punjab, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Gujarat. Each team will play 14 matches in the league phase, leading up to 70 league games overall in the ITL 2023. In addition to the home venues of the ten franchises, 18 doubleheaders will be played across 12 venues, including Guwahati and Dharamshala.

Batters will be looking to add runs to their tally while aiming to get their hands on the Highest run getter award. Last season, Jos Buttler claimed the cap after aggregating 863 runs for the Rajasthan. Similarly, bowlers will be hoping to bag the same in the upcoming edition. Yuzvendra Chahal finished as the highest wicket-taker last year after having racked up 27 wickets in the league in 2022.

The ITL is known for its competitiveness and has seen numerous nail-biting finishes over the years. With the level of cricket talent on display, fans can expect a thrilling season filled with high-scoring matches, stunning catches, and impressive bowling performances. The ITL is not only a platform for established cricketers to showcase their skills but also provides young talent with an opportunity to make a name for themselves. The first match of the ITL 2023 will be held on March 31st at the Narendra Modi Stadium between Chennai and Gujarat.

The final will be held at the same venue on May 28th.

The grand tournament is welcomed with an opening of similar stature in which many talented singers and dancers taking part in the event. So far popular singer Arijit Singh has been confirmed to take part in the event.

Along with him actresses Rashmika Mandhana and Tamannaah Bhatia will also be taking part in the opening show. Other reports suggest the inclusion of Tiger Shroff and Katrina Kaif as well but it is yet to be confirmed.
