About his dismissal, Dinesh Karthik shared that it was quite an impressive set-up by Scott Boland to take the wicket of the in-form batter. While speaking to the Apex Council of Cricket, Karthik said: "Shubman's ball was a really good one. I think he (Boland) set him up beautifully, bowling just around the fourth stump and then pitching this one slightly wider, giving the visual perception that it's probably a good ball to leave but it came back enough to take his off and middle."

Speaking about the same the former Team India coach, Ravi Shastri said that Gill will learn about leaving the ball in England as he is still young. On air, he said: "We talk about leaving the ball in England and we always talk about knowing where your off stump is. This is not knowing where your off stump is. See, Shubman Gill, being a little lazy with his footwork. He will learn; he is still young.”
