‘Isse pehle GT walo ko rulaya’ - Fans react to viral video of Ambati Rayudu in tears after CSK’s IPL 2023 triumph over GT

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won their fifth IPL title after defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final of the 16th edition of the tournament at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. They chased down the target of 171 runs in 15 overs as all batters came up with some quickfire contributions. However, it was the last match for Ambati Rayudu.

Before the final, he announced and hence, all eyes were on him when he came out to bat. Rayudu scored 19 runs off eight balls, including one four and two sixes. But, after the match, a video has now gone viral where Rayudu was seen in tears as players were seen consoling him. Seeing that, fans shared their views on social media.

Speaking of Rayudu, he scored 158 runs in 16 matches in IPL 2023. With this title, he has now six IPL titles to his name. This veteran batter has played for Mumbai Indians (MI) and CSK only in this tournament. In 204 matches, he has 4348 runs, at an average of 28.23, including 22 fifties and one century. In this final, he was struggling initially to time the ball as Rayudu was at three runs off four balls. After that, he smashed six, four, and six in three consecutive deliveries of Mohit Sharma before getting out on the next delivery. 

After the win, the veteran batter was happy as he said: “It's a fairytale finish. I couldn't have asked for more. I'm fortunate to have played in really great sides. I can smile for the rest of my life. All the hard work I've done in the last 30 years, I'm happy I got to finish on this note. I would really like to thank my family, my father. Without them this wouldn't have been possible.” For CSK, he has won three titles in 2018, 2021, and 2023 respectively.
