Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won their fifth IPL title on 29 May 2023 after defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. After the win, all CSK players were seen celebrating the win with their teammates and family members on the field. But, a video went viral where MS Dhoni was seen annoyed with Deepak Chahar.
It seemed that the CSK pacer was wanting an autograph from the skipper on his jersey. But, Dhoni was refusing and he was seen complaining to Rajiv Shukla also. But, finally, he gave the autograph and after seeing that fans shared their views on social media. However, in previous seasons also, Chahar was seen taking autographs from him on his jerseys.

Deepak Chahar managed only one wicket in the final
However, some fans were not happy with Chahar as he had a difficult night with the ball. He managed only one wicket for 38 runs in four overs. Even, he dropped both Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill in the early stage of their innings. So, it was a frustrating day for the CSK pacer. But, somehow, CSK held their nerves and chased down the target of 171 runs in 15 overs. Devon Conway won the Player of the Match award.
Meanwhile, it was the last match for Ambati Rayudu as he already announced his retirement before the final itself. He played a crucial role in the run-chase by smashing 19 runs off eight balls, including one four and two sixes. His quickfire cameo helped CSK to remain in the chase. So, after the win, Chahar heaped high praises and said: “He [Rayudu] was telling me, I’ll win the final. That belief that he has is unbelievable.” Deepak Chahar finished IPL 2023 with 13 wickets in 10 matches, at an economy of 8.74. After missing the last edition due to injury, it was a decent comeback for the pacer despite having some injury setbacks during the tournament.
